Reminder: Our Fall Sports Panther Pride Parent Meeting is tonight, Thursday, September 11th, from 6:00–7:00 PM in the Media Center. The meeting is for parents/guardians of fall sports athletes in grades 6–12 (student-athletes do not attend). Today is Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day. It is a federal holiday commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States. It is celebrated annually on June 19th, the date in 1865 when Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas, and announced the freedom of enslaved people, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.
