HIKING IN LOCAL MOUNTAINS                                                             FEE: $79

Saturday, 10:00 a.m. start (4 hikes Apr. 10, 17, May 8, 15)

Hikes are designed for beginner and moderate hikers. During our trips, you learn the history of the Ramapo Mountains while visiting historic iron mines, cave shelters, century-old buildings, and revolutionary and civil war remnants. The scenery affords some of the best mountain top views and waterfalls found in the local forests. More than just a walk down the path, our hikes will take us over mountains, through valleys, and across streams. Hikers should be in reasonable condition for a moderate and steady pace of 3 to 5 hours. All registrations must include a current email address. Students will be emailed orientation materials one week prior to first hike. Consult your physician before attempting a physically challenging activity like hiking. Hikes are led by experienced hiker, Instructor: ROBERT PURCELL, who has hiked to Machu Pichu in Peru, climbed to the bottom of the Grand Canyon, and has hiked extensively in the local mountains. He is a member of the Appalachian Mountain Club and a history buff.
