This course is designed to help you tell the difference between an unnecessary upsell and a necessary repair when going to get your oil changed. Presented by a certified master technician, learn what should be included with a routine oil change, as well as common problems and why they’re important to fix to keep your car safe and reliable.   Instructor:  DANIEL CONK

AUDITIONING FOR FILM AND TELEVISION FEE: $120

Taught by an actor and teaching artist with 20 years of experience in show business, this is an introductory course in audition technique for Film and Television. The course will provide students with practice, encouragement, and experience in the pursuit of roles in the world of filmed media. Students will have the opportunity to prepare scenes drawn from a variety of genres, developing their on-camera technique from both a technical and artistic standpoint.  Instructor:  BRIAN SGAMBATI

 

BIRD WATCHING FOR BEGINNERS                FEE: $99

Dates:  Sept. 16, 7:30 a.m., Sept. 23, 7:30 a.m., Oct. 7, 7:30 a.m. Oct. 14, 7:30 a.m. 

Oct. 28, 8:00 a.m., Nov. 11, 7:00 a.m.

The course consists of 5 half-day trips to nature preserves in the Bergen County area and one all-day trip further afield.  In case of inclement weather, a class may be postponed and scheduled for another Thursday.  Vaccinated participants are welcome to carpool to destinations.  Since all classes are outdoors, masks are optional.   Class limit is 12.  Selection and use of binoculars and bird guides, note taking, bird biology, behavior, habitats, migration, and maintaining a feeding station will be covered.  Instructor: JUDITH CINQUINA

Perfect for puppies 8 weeks through 5 months of age.  Your puppy will learn foundational obedience commands, impulse control, and proper socializing with fellow classmates.  Each class will also have Q&A times, to help  solve your specific behavior challenges.  Students will be provided with lesson sheets to help them practice at home and can email the trainer with questions during the course.   Maximum 10 dogs.  Instructor:  LAUREN TOBIN - KATHY SANTO DOG TRAINING

FIRST CLASS IS FOR HUMANS ONLY.  This is the perfect class for dogs 6 months of age and older who are friendly (don’t bark, lunge or act aggressively) arounds dogs or people.  Dogs will learn core obedience skills and handlers will learn how to create practice sessions that result in a dog who responds to commands “No Matter What”! ELDER LAW AND ESTATE PLANNING                          FEE: $35 per family

Elderly individuals and their children are faced with a wide range of questions, particularly relating to basic legal documents that they need to control their personal and financial lives, how to reduce or eliminate inheritance tax, as well as financing long term care. This course is designed to address the importance of drafting a will, living trust, financial and medical powers of attorney. This course will also address the different types of funding for facilities, such as private pay, long term care insurance, and government assistance; client eligibility for government programs such as Medicare and Medicaid will also be discussed at length. In this three-night introduction to the Tarot, you’ll learn brief keyword meanings for the cards and simple spreads. By the end of the course, you will be able to do uncannily accurate readings for yourself, your family and friends.  Please bring a Rider-Waite Tarot deck (available on Amazon.com and at many bookstores) to class so you can begin working with the cards right away. MAH JONGG FEE:  $95

Wednesday, 7:00-9:00 p.m. (8 sess. beg. Sept. 22)  Midland Park H.S. Additional Class: Thursday, 7:00-9:00 p.m.(beg. Sept. 30-no class 11/4 and 11/5) Learn the modern American version of the Ancient Chinese game of Mah Jongg. Four people play the game at one time, but each plays for themselves. The game is similar in concept to Gin Rummy, but it employs more skill than luck. The game is not as difficult to learn as Bridge. Betting will not be discussed. Men and teenagers are welcomed. Material fee of $3 is  payable to the instructor on the first night of class. Class limit 8 students. Instructor: ARLENE CASTLEMAN
