Heartsaver CPR AED is a video-based, instructor-led course that teaches adult and child CPR and AED use, infant CPR, and how to relieve choking in adults, children, and infants. This course teaches skills with the AHA’s research-proven practice-while-watching technique, which allows instructors to observe the students, provide feedback, and guide the students’ learning of skills. This AHA Heartsaver First Aid class is a video-based, instructor-led course that teaches critical skills to respond to and manage an emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services arrives. Learn duties and responsibilities of first aid rescuers; first aid actions for medical emergencies, including severe choking, heart attack, and stroke; and skills for handling injury and environmental emergencies, including external bleeding, broken bones and sprains, and bites and stings. This course is for anyone with limited or no medical training. Upon completion employees will receive an American Heart Association Heartsaver First Aid certification card valid for 2 years. Qigong (pronounced “chee gung”) means Energy Work. Developed in ancient China, it is a system of flowing movements coordinated with deep breathing and meditation. Qigong has numerous proven health benefits including improved flexibility, muscle strength, balance, and heart and lung functions. It decreases stress and reduces muscle pain and stiffness and is deeply relaxing. Qigong is also practiced to improve sports performance. It is suitable for all ages and most fitness levels. Chair yoga is a form of yoga that can be practiced sitting on a chair, or standing using a chair for support. The chair replaces the yoga mat allowing you to take advantage of yoga’s wonderful fitness and health potential. Anyone who sits in a chair for most of the day, or cannot get on the floor for whatever reason (working long hours, weight issues, inflexibility, lack of muscle tone, wheelchair bound, etc) can learn to improve circulation, strength and flexibility from a seated position. Restorative Yoga focuses on relaxing the body in restful postures. Rest is different than sleep. Rest provides our body the opportunity to renew, heal and restore. There are physical and emotional benefits to this practice. The restorative effects of this form of yoga should never be overlooked no matter what age. By using props in the postures, it allows one to feel the restorative power that will do wonders to the body. Students must bring a yoga mat, blanket (throw), hand towel and yoga strap (10 ft.), 2 yoga blocks. Eat at least 2 hours before class or have a light snack like yogurt and water.
