ABOUT BOATING SAFETY           FEE: $90

Monday,  7-9:30 p.m. (4 sess. beg  Sept. 18) Midland Park H.S.

            (includes all fees for materials, manuals, etc.)

This beginner boating course will give you the knowledge needed to obtain the required NJ Boating Safety Certificate. The course will cover federal, state and local boating laws and regulations, required safety equipment, safe boating practices, PWC and small boat handling, trailering and protecting your boat, navigation and emergency procedures. The state test will be administered at the last session. Upon passing the test, the Boating Certificate will be issued on the same night of the test. Students must be at least 13 years old and must attend all 4 classes in order to receive a certificate.

BASKETBALL—MEN'S AND WOMEN'S                   FEE: $105

Monday — 7:30-8:30 p.m.     Midland Park H.S.

(12 sess. beg.  Sept. 18)

Full or half court basketball for persons (age 18 plus) who like a competitive means to stay in good physical condition. Games will be co-ed on separate half courts.

FOIL FENCING-BEGINNER (CO-ED)                           FEE: $135

Thursday – 5 - 6:30 p.m. 

(9 sess. beg. Sept. 28)(no class 11/9 & 11/23)

This program is designed to develop coordination, stamina, mental awareness and total physical fitness for students of all ages.  Footwork, parries, offensive and defensive moves will be taught along with rules and safety regulations.   This basic course also provides foils, masks and all protective gear.  Students should wear sneakers and comfortable clothing.  Register yourself and a friend and receive a free fencing glove or equivalent.  For further information, call Mr. Carnevale at 201-385-7619. 

 

ELECTRIC FOIL & EPEE FENCING – TEEN/ADULT          FEE: $135

Thursday-6:30-8 p.m.

These programs are designed for those students who are experienced in electric foil fencing.

 

ELECTRIC FOIL & EPEE FENCING – ADULT     FEE: $265

WITH INTRO PRACTICE SABRE

Saturday, 9:30 a.m.-12 noon. (9 sess. beg. Sept. 23)

(no class 11/11 & 11/25) 

These programs are designed for those adults who are experienced in electric foil fencing. Students should have their own equipment.

 

HIKING IN LOCAL MOUNTAINS                          FEE: $69

Saturday, 9:30 a.m. start (4 hikes Oct. 7, 14, 28, Nov. 4)

Offered in cooperation with Glen Rock Community School. Register through M.P.C.E..

Hikes are designed for beginner and moderate hikers. During our trips, you learn the history of the Ramapo Mountains while visiting historic iron mines, cave shelters, century old buildings, a Revolutionary War entrenchment. The scenery affords some of the best mountain top views and waterfalls found in the local forests. More than just a walk down the path, our hikes will take us over mountains, through valleys, and across streams. Hikers should be in reasonable condition for a moderate and steady pace of 3 to 5 hours. In order to receive pertinent orientation materials, all registrations must include a current email address. Consult your physician before attempting a physically challenging activity like hiking. Hikes are led by experienced hiker in the Adirondack and Ramapo Mountains, ROBERT PURCELL, who climbed Machu Pichu in Peru. He is a member of the Appalachian Mountain Club and a history buff.

 

PUTTING AND CHIPPING - A GOLF SHORT GAME PRIMER FEE: $95

Thursday, 7-8:30 p.m. Highland School Gym, Midland Park

(4 weeks beg. Sept. 28)          

Learning the fundamentals of putting and chipping is a great way for beginners to start down the path to building a swing. For those who play the game, mastery of the short game is the best way to lower your score. Coach Bennett is an avid golfer who will instill the fundamentals such as: grip, swing, stance, etc. Mats and balls provided. Please bring a putter to the first class. Class limited to 12 students.
